Tea shops in India.

Tea price got increased

Recently i got a chance to hear Aaahafm, this was the topic they were discussing. This made me to write.

This is the news which is buzzing in chennai.
Tea shop owners are the one, who are getting really affected.
Its true,
To reaally know what is the issue, we just need to, go back a deacade and see the history of how it was , how its now.

Tea shop alias tea kadai, used to be the place where people , not only get tea, its a total refreshment stall for all
in the morning.
Few benches, few newspapers (can be old too), radio with huge volume are the trade-mark of this shop.
I personally remember tea shops playing radio in high volumes.
Scenes you usually see here are
it wont surprise you to see those who scans newspaper in one hand and tea glass in the other hand.

Usually dominated by Keralites, even we have some sayings like, even if you go to Moon , you will find a keralite
having a tea shop over there.
This really shows how dominace they are in this business. This shows their hard-work to do this business.
One teamaster, few Kids (that was time when fighting against the child labour started), owner sitting
at the desk near entrance.
Every day in the evening and morning, used to serve Bhajii, vadai (hot snacks), for this a special master
will be there for few hours, to make this hot.
Slowly these teashop got into serving early morning tiffins, through this extra business were made.
They learned how to make more business by selling Cigars and Bidi's too.

So a typical shop would be this,
everyday business would be around 300-500 tea ,50-100 bhajii's, vadai's and cigars
depending on the teashop location, popularity etc...

Sometimes you find, there are lots of people who tend to smoke, make a trip to teashop, and do business for Owners :)

There are many crazy people , i know few personally who just have 7-8 tea's/day.
And Chennai people like to have tea from teashop's alot...

How do they make it.

It has various components like milk , water , tea decoction , sugar etc... separately
customer requirement are met as follows
1. double strong tea
2. strong tea
3. china tea
4. paal tea
5. 1/2

Some like only the tea made in these shops, due to their expertness in the combination they used to do.

Recenty personally i liked the tea made at teashop near Madhapur Petrol-pump.
You wont believe , we wont get a place to stand there. not even to get the coupon for tea.

Reason they are suffering, is inflation.
every where you see the inflation nowadays, But key for these people are
1. Tea
2. sugar
3. water
4. milk
5. gas
6. rent
7. electricity
8. wages for workers

the list goes on.

Main reason was increase in Gas price recently
These shop has to use the 19-kg commercial cylinder, which costs somewhere around 600-700.
Each tea stall would have incurred a loss of at least Rs.2,000 on daily sales it seems, thats what they where quoting.
Due to this, teashop owners have decided to increase the single tea price to 4 rupees.
They need to run these business successfully without being in trouble and making profit too.
Wishing them the very good luck in their business in serving people :).
